Ten years and $100B later (not including operational costs) and we have constructed the single most expensive object in the history of mankind. Not a single scientific experiment has been conducted and not a scrap of knowledge gained minus the school of hard knox lessons learned in its transport and assembly.

If we had taken this money and built say solar thermal powerplants, the future for our kids would be much more secure.

It's a wonderful hotel for space tourists, though.

"Should have built a permanent base on the moon with a 50 year vs 10 year life".. you've got to crawl before you can walk..

"Better yet how about fixing our education system, dependence on oil "
Where do you think fuel cell technology came from ?

By the time we get this boondoggle built, it will have to be deactivated. Should have built a permanent base on the moon with a 50 year vs 10 year life. I follow all the space initiatives and see great value in cost effective research.

I admire all huge efforts and scientific achievements in the field of space
research made by all countries implied. I hope all these efforts will serve
the mankind and somehow contribute to a better life here on Earth.
