Reputation for accounting, not decency, humanity, or morals.

I have 3 devices, Magellan GPS, 8MP camera, and a Nokia cell phone. I want all 3 in 1 package, that I can wifi interface, and software to run on my laptop. No flashy handbag is capable. Will wait till my contract runs out around Christmas.

Apple can keep their lousy Iphone until one can use it on a decent carrier like Verizon. ATT is about the worst carrier to have an exclusive contract with. If they want to sell more Iphones, than make them available to everyone. They are snubbing the customers who already are bound to contracts with other carriers.

People who are complaining about technology changing need to get over it. It happens.
While I agree that is sucks to have bought $600 worth of phone only to have a newer and much cheaper version come out 1 year later, it is not a new phenomenon and will continue to happen forever. I remember how NOT mad I was when the dvd player came out right after I bought that new VCR. It happens.

I will be buying the iPhone 3g, I do not own the original iPhone nor any other Apple products, but I am willing to jump on the "CURRENT" technology of this generation of iPhone. I am well aware that there will be newer versions and I will probably want them as well. What I won't do is complain that technology is advancing when the new phones come out.

In addition, to any of those people complaining about the pricing of the data plan, get over it.
If anyone should be complaining, it should be people like me who have been watching 1st gen iPhone users getting away with $20/month plan while I was paying $39.99 for my treo for the same service.
But I didn't, because I know how business works, and I know that I have a choice as a consumer to buy or not to buy.

If you don't want to use/pay for AT&T then move to a different country or wait, like I did, for what you want.

PS. I also know that for CNN or any other publication to print a mis-leading headline or incompletely researched article is also fair game and has been happening since ink was invented. I have gotten over it and learned that you must be an educated consumer and person.

Too bad it's still made by apple, and that providers still charge up to $15 per MB transfered off of wifi access networks.... im waiting for the Ubunutu XPhone, that doesn't suck and isn't made by the biggest profit-hungry computer company in the world...thanks

Apple has proprietary hardware and software. Hooked into proprietary MicroBug$ internet server, via BattleStar ATT. Time to hide and wait for open source phone and carrier independent Android.

Should be good lineup of products before Christmas.

What is really annoying, and total BS, is i went into the store to ask questions about the rumor that a new phone was due out soon. The clerks stated nothing was due to be released for th next year, and that the price was going to be the same. After several different reassurances I purchased the Iphone. I guess I am the sucker that actually beleived a sale's person and got the phone. I would not mind paying the extra $10 per month in data. I know it costs more but I would rather pay $199.00 and get a 3g phone with a more expensive plan then the edge network which really sucks in my area.

I am still wondering if they are going to offer another rebate for those who got giped or lied to like the last time they lowered the price.

Actually, the whole thing with the iPhone hype boils down to the lack of competition on the GSM market, where the only players are AT$T and T-Mobile. That allowed them to systematically cripple the features on their smartphones, so now the regular US user think surfing the net, watching TV and gaming on your cell phone is something novel... It is not. Just as an example, with any Windows based smart phone one can use Skype both on EDGE and 3G networks to place free calls to other Skype users, or paid calls to anyone via SkypeOut. That is very common in Europe and Japan for example. Similarly the same can be achieved on a Symbian based device with an ease. At the same time Apple bans development of VoIP applications in the SDK agreement... Most if not all of the other smarts offered by AT$T cannot run Skype out of the box either, at not without application unlocking them first.

Answer to Chris,

The new 3G iPhone will have a similar Microsoft push e-mail type system that is instantaneous and very capable.

The new 3G iPhone will video stream at 3G speeds (4MB file in less than 5 seconds or one 5MB MP4 file in less than 7s).

Whatever the iPod can do, so can the 3G iPhone and better (due to constant updates to OS X that iPhone runs on). Some older iPods don't use OS X at all.

New third party software will take advantage of a Word Viewer, Excel Viewer and Powerpoint creater and viewer. Multiple document editors will be available in late July 2008.

Epocrates and Unbound medicine have medical software products ready for July 11- 2008 launch.

Audio and voice recording software will also be available.

Memory space to be used on the iPhone to transport a file from a PC to iPhone and then back to another PC will be available (as is available for Mac version already).

Sega has 3 new games for the 3G and iPhone ready. One will be available on July 11- 2008 launch.
