To the rest of you. I know for fact that the Scout Leaders did not neglect this storm. These boys had drills the day before for such an event. Who knew it would come so soon. Before anyone starts pointing fingers, search the news for the truth. It was out there. I am an Asst. Scoutmaster of Troop 50 of this District, so I know what they went thru.

To MB. How dare you say that. Yes we keep those kind out to protect our boys. But to say this was God's punishment is as stupid as you seem to be. Those boys that died were decent Scouts, and the ones that survived are heros. Our Town's (Dunlap) EMTs that responded were impressed by the triage these boys did for each other, and when a path was cleared to get to these boys, they had the injured ready to go – worst cases first, etc. Two boys dug the Park Ranger, wife, and baby from their collaspe house. Maybe you are the kind we need to keep out.

Stratosphere (high) cools while the Troposphere (low) warms. Heat engine efficiency is (T2-T1). Greater the difference, more power. Convection proportional to T^4, So small rise in surface T can result in violent correction

Per Freeman Dyson, meaningless to talk about global average surface temperature, since insufficient stations. (Weather is a local effect)

NASA climate reputation; "I would answer that it is a big scale organized crime." They supressed Ferenc Miskolczi, who provided more accurate theory.

This just crushed me. Those brave scouts handled the situation like real troopers. http://www.cbdistro.com and http://www.lawlorscustom.com are two fine organizations our there with fundraisers for the families. Cbdistro's will run through August 2008. They could really use the help in getting the word out.

Actually, only slight surface cooling, however the Stratosphere has cooled more. The difference of temperatures is greater. Therefore, more power to the weather heat engine. http://i23.photobucket.com/albums/b370/gatemaster99/stratosphere.png

I know that the Boy Scouts refuse to allow gays and atheists to join their ranks. I wonder if there was a closet gay or atheist there, and this was God's way of striking him down.

Darren, not meant to offend you..just as you hold your views i hold mine. And i don't agree with you on the thought that prayer like mine encourages parents not to seek medical care...in my faith we fully utilize medical care....respect science (with some disagreement but understanding as no one realy has all the knowlege)....That prayer was for comfort and for lots of people it is. This 'deity' you speak of for me is VERY REAL and exists ..alive and well. There is no reason science and religion can't coincide together....it has for years....many scientists will agree (and some have much more logical arguments for faith than some of the greatest theologians). Keep it simple, Ask the meterologist's in Iowa right now why they are so perplexed with the flooding...they may give you a view you'd be surprised by.

I tend to agree with John..this is really nature at it's worst...at least in regard to the tornadoes and flooding...but the China earthquake I hold other thoughts on.....

This message is for "S Callahan"... praying to an invisible, imaginary deity will get you nowhere. Posts like yours are what motivate parents to pray for their diabetic children instead of seeking medical attention. Or praying for rain instead of looking for ways to conserve water. And so on.

Praying for a non-existent deity to help is the same as doing nothing at all. What we need to do is invest in science. Better tornado warning systems, better meteorology, better predictive methods will prevent catastrophes like this one. Deluding ourselves with mythology will not.
